The Legacy of Lawrence Bender

Lawrence Bender is a notable American film producer with a bounty of blockbuster favorites to testify for his success. In addition to titles such as Goodwill Hunting and Dirty Dancing: Havana Nights, he is perhaps most well known for the credits he’s produced alongside esteemed director Quentin Tarantino. His legacy is one that is inherently intertwined with our favorite movie quotes and soundtracks. Lawrence Bender’s vision has not only earned him multiple awards and numerous nominations, but has also grossed in legions of some of the most dedicated and passionate fans in all of cinema.

Those affections are so dedicated and ardent in fact, that most are deemed as having a ‘cult following’, particularly in response to Lawrence Bender’s work with Quentin Tarantino. Having produced all but three of Tarantino’s films (Django Unchained, Death Proof, and The Hateful Eight specifically), the two film moguls have paved together a style that is instantly recognizable and always promising. Bender even makes several cameos throughout Tarantino’s films, including playing a hotel clerk in Kill Bill: Volume 2 and a police officer in Reservoir Dogs. Together, Bender and Tarantino founded a record company called A Band Apart Records, which focuses on releasing the film soundtracks you know and love.

Aside from scripted flicks, Lawrence Bender is also an award-winning producer of documentaries. One of his most famous, An Inconvenient Truth secured the Academy Award for Best Documentary Feature for its prolific highlighting of the dastardly effects resulting from climate change. Addressing these sorts of topics is nothing new for Bender, who is an enthusiastic activist for causes both social and political.

He presently serves on the Advisory Board for the UCLA Institute of the Environment and Sustainability, and was pronounced a Wildlife Hero by the National Wildlife Federation. He has also received the Torch of Liberty Award from the ACLU and is a member of Council on Foreign Relations the Pacific Council. Nowadays, he is frequently involved with organizing fundraising events around Los Angeles.
