Roseann Bennett’s Advice For Good Mental Health

Experience marriage and family therapist Roseann Bennett seeks to help everyone, regardless of their financial situation. Bennett is the Executive Director of Center for Assessment and Treatment, a charitable organization she established in 2010 that advocates for people of all backgrounds. Through personal experience, Roseann learned that in order to keep her life in proper balance, she had to take care of herself before she could take care of others. Roseann Bennet’s goal is to live in the present and not let life move so quickly that she misses what is happening at the moment.

Roseann Bennett offers several tips to help people stay mentally healthy:

First, it’s important to talk with someone about the things you are dealing with. Anyone who is a good listener can help with this. It can be especially beneficial to talk with a mental health professional. Fortunately, the social stigma that used to be associated with seeing a mental health professional is fading as people become more educated about mental health.

Second, do what you can do to avoid stress. Find ways to cope with the stress you can’t avoid. Stress can cause many physical problems, such as depression, anxiety, headaches, and indigestion, so it is important to find ways to manage it. Make time for relaxation.

Third, focus on the good things that happened during the day. Thinking about positive things can give you strength to get through negative things that happen. Don’t allow yourself to dwell on things that upset you.

Finally, acknowledge that there are some things that happen in life that you can’t control, and let go of those things. Don’t allow yourself to feel responsible for things you couldn’t control. Understand and accept that people deal with horrible situations every day that they could not prevent.

Roseann Bennett’s favorite quote by Viktor Frankl is this: “When we are no longer able to change a situation – we are challenged to change ourselves.” When you accept that you cannot control everything, but you can control yourself, that is emotionally freeing. View More Information Here
