Maarten de Jeu, founder and managing director of SVM Business Advisory, has been involved with Farrell Fellowship programs held annually. He is among the most successful financial experts in Chicago and widely recognized in providing support in charity events. One of the occasions is when he became the co-chairman of the Science Spins Program held at the Museum of Science and Industry in Chicago. The goal of the event entailed educating the visitors about the history of bicycles typically seen today in different shapes and designs.
Museum of Science and Industry is the largest science institution in the western hemisphere hosting annual Farrell Fellowship internship programs. The events bring together teenagers from around the city of Chicago, thus helping in scientific learning. The internships are usually conducted during summer while taking more than five weeks. Some of the areas taught include leadership development skills, science, and public speaking skills. As such, learners, especially students, leave the facility well equipped with knowledge hence can interact freely within the museum and the community in general.
In the 2014 event, it comprised of forty teens who collaborated in staging America’s Got Bubbles, which primarily focused on educating the viewers about the magic behind bubbles. The event extended into visiting seventeen public libraries within the city of Chicago while teaching children about different activities. Among them is the Farrell Fellows program dealing with educating children about the engineering of carnival tents from newspapers and how to start a model rocket while on a high striker game.
