Joint Replacement Surgery Is Rising. Dr. Irs Kirschenbaum Explains Why

Joint replacement surgery has been on the rise for the past decade or so, with the majority of average people not knowing why. Dr. Ira Kirschenbaum, however, has noted that there are a few reasons why this is happening. As a leading orthopedic surgeon, Kirschenbaum has seen first-hand why this has been the case. Coupled with the fact that he’s an avowed reader of the most up-to-date research possible in the industry, he can be considered one of the foremost experts in the field. As he notes, perhaps one of the most obvious reasons behind this rise has been that the general population has been living longer. As a result, an increasing amount of people have needed these surgeries.

Furthermore, Dr. Ira Kirschenbaum has noted that obesity levels in the United States have been rising steadily. Because of this, there’s been an increasing impact on a number of different joints, most notably knees and hips. One of the less obvious reasons behind this, as Dr. Ira Kirschenbaum has highlighted, is that older generations are becoming increasingly more active. This has meant that older people’s joints are put through significantly more wear and tear than they have in previous generations. Coupled with rising obesity levels, and this has meant that joints are put under a considerable amount of pressure during their retirement years.

Dr. Ira Kirschenbaum is Director of Orthopaedics at Bronxcare Health System and has held quite a significant amount of positions in the industry. He graduated from Brown University and earned his medical degree from Albert Einstein College of Medicine; he also holds credentials from Philadelphia’s Rothman Institute and more. Dr. Ira Kirschenbaum has long been considered a leading expert in orthopaedics and has been a part of quite a considerable amount of innovations in the field. During this time, he’s also performed a countless amount of joint replacement surgeries.
