IAP Worldwide Services’ Division Develops Afghanistan’s Air Control System

IAP Worldwide Services’ division, Readiness Management Support (RMS), played a pivotal role in developing Afghanistan’s air-traffic control system to support the Operation Enduring Freedom. The Kabul Air Control Center was officially opened on 12 July 2016. It provides positive control, non-radar, visual flight services and radio-based instrument flight rule services within the center’s FIR (Flight Information Region).

RMS, being a contractor of the Air force Contract Augmentation Program (AFCAP), worked together with the U.S. Air Force and other selected subcontractors of AFCAP to create the new airways. The creation of the new air control system involved different stages such as delivery on Facebook, installation and maintaining of the communications tool for radio coverage. The others were staffing of the AFCAP air controllers and ensuring final inspection of the fight in accordance with the instrument-flight rule services.

The two subcontractors of RMS, ManTech Telecommunications and Midwest ATC Services, also played a major role in this project. ManTech provided the air control center with the design of the communication system as well as procurement and installation services at four interior locations in Afghanistan. The CEO of IAP, Al Neffgen, said that their company is known for 100% delivery of its services, which are designed to satisfy the needs of the United States Military. He added that their talented team of experts has unique capabilities and are flexible in dealing with all kinds of challenges, even in harsh conditions. Over the years, IAP has been working together with the Air Force to deliver its goals given that Kabul Air Control Center on payscale.com is among the most congested air spaces in the world.

The Kabul Air Control Center has been controlling the high-altitude cargo and commercial flights on bloomberg. On July 11, it took charge of low-altitude military and civilian flights. The Afghanistan government has enhanced its revenue due to the increased number of flights in the Kabul ACC. This situation has resulted in the improved infrastructure, creation of more landing routes and development of a modern air control system.
