Marc Beer graduated from Miami University (Oxford, OH) in 1987 with a Bachelor of Science degree in Business. Beer held various sales and marketing positions throughout his professional career. He would become the Vice President of Global Marketing at Genzyme. He led Genzyme to help people who suffered from rare diseases. Beer was the CEO of a biotech company called ViaCell in 2000. He led ViaCell to go public in 2005. Beer has over 25 years of experience in the pharmaceutical, marketing, biotech industries.


Beer along with gynecologist, Dr. Ray Iglesias, and Yolanda Lorié would start the company called Renovia.in 2016. Renovia developed devices for the treatment of pelvic floor disorders. Beer has been able to raise over $40 million to help develop more products. Beer felt it was important to address difficult issues in the pharmaceutical industry. Pelvic disorders cost over $280 million to treat from 2005 to 2006. Beer would lead Renovia to gain approval from the Food and Drug Administration for the product called Leva in 2018. There were three venture capital companies, Perceptive Advisors of New York, Ascension Ventures of Missouri, and The Longwood Fund who would provide funding to Renovia. Renovia would use the funding to improve the care of women with pelvic floor disorders.


Renovia would educate people regarding pelvic floor disorders. Education of the disorder would reduce stigmatism associated with pelvic floor disorders. It will women seek the treatment needed.
Renovia’s approach would help more women seek Leva as a treatment. Leva will help women strengthen their pelvic floors. The use of app data will help lower the cost of long-term treatment.
Beer feels Renovia succeeds because of the people. The organizational structure is important to Beer. He believes talent acquisition helps the company. Renovia was able to get support from organizations such as Women’s Preventive Services Initiative (WPSI) and the American College of
