As the founding patent holder of blockchain technology, Serge Belamant has built a career in the financial banking system that many can only dream of. Serge Belamant first found success after he graduated from Witwatersrand University in Johannesburg and landed with various companies in which he helped formulate ideas in the fields of digital financial transaction software.
Mr.Belamant in 1989 would found Net1 UEPS Technologies, Inc., a company working towards improving electronic payments. The company would see headlines of its innovation when it partnered with VISA to create a Chip Offline Pre-Authorized Card, a technology chip that we still all use today. Fast forward to 1999 and we see Serge Belamant introducing to South Africa an easier and more convenient way to transfer welfare grants to recipients via his new digital payment system. The Net1 technology was so popular that many countries to this day still utilize it as a means of providing their people quick transactions.
Today, Serge Belamant current works as the co-founder of Zilch Technologies, located in the United Kingdom. When asked where the idea came for the establishment of the company, Serge Belamant quickly stated that it all came from an initial idea from his son Philip. Mr. Belamant’s son Philip is an IT graduate and has seen a good amount of success in the mobile game industry. Mr. Belamant states that this venture for him will be a little different as it is the first time a company of his will introduce itself into the various social media platforms. Mr. Belamant states that the company’s aim will be to reach the younger generation through this medium in order to offer them affordable financial products. The end goal here is to provide younger individuals with the ability to keep track of their earnings and spending habits.
